Ever been unimpressed after reading something?

Imagine your ideal customer read an ad for your service and felt just like this. Do you think they’d buy from you? Why would they be unimpressed?

Because what they just read was BOOOORING!

There’s been a rise in cases of people writing stuff that’s as entertaining as watching a snail squirm.

And it’s all because of…

The Waffling Pandemic

The most powerful tool for writing content that sells is:

Your brain.

But the sad reality is many business owners are replacing it. ChatGPT, A.I. and robots are taking over.

And you know what the worst part is?

Most people don’t realise how horrendous bots are at writing.

I asked ChatGPT the following. Just take a look at this boring drivel:

How Local Businesses Can Attract More Customers Using Meta Ads

In today’s digital age, local businesses are continually seeking effective ways to attract new customers. One powerful tool at their disposal is Meta Ads, which include advertisements on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. With billions of users active on these platforms, local businesses have a unique opportunity to connect with their community. Here’s how to leverage Meta Ads to boost your customer base.

  1. Define Your Target Audience

The first step to successful advertising is understanding who your potential customers are. Meta Ads allow you to define your audience based on various criteria, including:

  • Location: Target people in your local area or specific neighbourhoods.

  • Demographics: Tailor your ads to age, gender, and interests that align with your business.

  • Behaviour: Reach users based on their online behaviour, such as purchase history or engagement with similar businesses.

By honing in on your ideal customer profile, you can create more relevant and engaging ads.

This is a perfect example of waffling - the most boring thing in the world.

The good news is?

By the end of this article you’ll recognise it so you can gobble it all up before it gets to the reader.

How To Terminate Waffling And Make More Profit

Let’s have a look at some of those sentences from our friend ChatGPT:

“With billions of users active on these platforms, local businesses have a unique opportunity to connect with their community.”

And especially that last one:

“By honing in on your ideal customer profile, you can create relevant and engaging ads.”

Both of these do a great job at…

…you guessed it, WAFFLING.

It sounds like it’s trying to write a PhD dissertation. And even then there wouldn't be as much waffling.

The easiest way to glue your reader's eyes to your writing is to:

Cut Through The Clutter With Active Language

Don’t make your customer decipher riddles in your writing. You’re not only wasting your own time but theirs as well.

Every sentence you write should be clear and direct.

Like this:

“Billions of people use these platforms. Which means our perfect customer is on Meta.”

And this:

“Target the right audience and you’ll get way more results from your ads.”

Compare these to the gibberish from ChatGPT. See how the sentences are much more concise?

We’ve gone from bashing our foreheads on the screen to…

Declaring Independence From Waffling

Passive language is the easiest way to scare off your ideal prospect.

Write like you’re breaking down doors, kicking down fences and storming through barricades. Declare war on waffling, take charge in your language and watch your results soar.
